Mr. Cathcart is a Senior Director in the Global Transactions Tax practice of Alvarez & Marsal. Mr. Cathcart has over 40 years’ experience in all aspects of United States federal income taxation, and has specialized in the tax treatment of international transactions and mergers and acquisitions throughout his career. His diverse experience includes working as a partner in one of the country’s leading tax boutique law firms, as a principal and director in three Big 5 accounting firms, and as a full-time law professor. He has written extensively in professional publications, and is a frequent speaker at international and corporate tax forums. His practice has focused on providing high-end technical solutions in connection with international mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance. Mr. Cathcart received his J.D. degree magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and clerked for Judge Theodore Tannenwald Jr. of the United States Tax Court.
