I have worked as a tax director, outside tax and corporate counsel, and as professional services practice leader. My background in first and foremost in U.S. international tax as it applies to U.S. financial services corporations doing business overseas. My areas of expertise include: 1. Tax planning (managing both the effective tax rate and tax risk of the company) 2. Mergers and acquisitions (buying, selling, and restructuring companies internationally) 3. Financial Reporting for Tax (how taxes are reported in USGAAP and foreign GAAP financial statements) A significant part of my career has been focused on operations in Latin America. This has helped me develop an extensive understanding of tax and corporate legal regimes in Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Peru, and Chile, in addition to the interaction of these rules with those affecting U.S. taxpayers (specifically in areas such as acquisitions, dispositions, restructuring, distributions, payments, and intercompany operations).
