Before Shell, Daniel served as the Director of Global Tax and Corporate Planning for Avago Technologies (a semi-conductor market leader with US$8 billion market capitalisation) and undertook pioneering responsibilities for its global tax operations / models / restructuring. Prior to joining Avago, Daniel was the Senior Tax Manager for Johnson & Johnson and played key driving roles in the re-engineering of the Asia Pacific Supply Chain for its Consumer business to achieve bottomline optimisation. Daniel started his tax career with Arthur Andersen after he graduated from the Nanyang Technological University with B.A. Accountancy (1st Class Honors). Daniel also has an INSEAD MBA (Distinction) and is fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese).

• Responsible for business tax matters of UIA companies with annual income tax liabilities in excess of billions of US dollars

• Supported timely and accurate reporting of UIA tax matters and tax value / service metrics to the VP Upstream Tax, VP Finance and UIA Controller

• Caused the Tax Centres to deliver effective tax compliance, tax shaping, and tax audit/controversy services in respect of UIA tax matters

• Caused transfer pricing documentation to be prepared by the Tax Centres or external advisers in a timely fashion for UIA

• Supported the people processes for tax staff in the Tax Centres by meaningful participation in goal setting, performance assessments, and staff development
