Professor Heleno Taveira Torres, the managing partner and founder of the firm, is well renowned for his academic dedication and extensive professional experience in the most complex matters of Tax Law and Public Law in general. He is also known for his steadfast commitment to improve the legal system, his collaboration with the Public Administration and his commitment to the preservation of basic liberties within the country’s economic and legal order. Professor of Tax Law with the Economic, Finance and Tax Law Department of the Law School of the University of São Paulo, holding Habilitation (USP), Ph.D. (PUCSP), Master (UFPE) and Specialist (Università di Roma – La Sapienza) degrees in Tax Law. Mr. Torres integrated the Law Committee of CAPES (Coordination for the Furtherance of Graduate Courses) from 2001 to 2007, and is currently its “ad hoc” Advisor. He is also a Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the International Fiscal Association – IFA, the Executive Committee of Instituto Latino Americano de Derecho Tributario – ILADT, in addition to other major associations in Brazil and abroad, such as ABDF, ABRADT, IAB, and IASP. Furthermore, he is a councilor to the Superior Council of Legal and Legislative Matters (CONJUR), the Federation of Industries of the State (FIESP), and to the Superior Council of Law of the Federation of Commerce of the State of São Paulo (FECOMERCIO).
