Responsible for the preparation and review of quarterly consolidated tax accounting (ASC 740), rate reconciliation, tax footnotes, maintenance of deferred tax inventory, tax research and support for US Corporations, high level review of tax returns and providing transactional tax analysis to the business. Also, responsible for maintaining FIN 48 inventory and collaborating with independent auditors. Key projects included:
• Provided tax structuring guidance related to the exit of Correspondent Lending, sale of PHH Home Loans & wind-down of PLS; providing ongoing advice for remaining restructuring activities including the sale of MSR assets & PHH re-engineering, which in total will result in $550 million in excess cash for the corporation
• Led tax planning related to review of all strategic options undertaken by the corporation since March 2016
• Took various actions to reduce the corporation’s effective tax rate
• Managed the preparation of tax balance sheet, E&P study and stock basis calculations with our auditor, Deloitte & Touche
