John Middleton CTA John has been practicing in tax law since 1996, and joined the Clayton Utz Taxation Team in 2003. He has undertaken a wide range of taxation and commercial work, specializing in income tax, CGT and GST. He has also advised on international taxation issues. The majority of his time has been devoted to providing technical tax advice to major corporate and government clients, with a focus on the infrastructure and mining and energy sectors. Within his broad range of commercial experience, John has advised numerous clients on the buying and selling of businesses, ranging in value from $100,000 to billion dollar enterprises. He is also a great source of advice on SME business restructuring for better profitability, taxation advantages and business asset protection. John has spoken at a number of conferences, including engagements with CPA Australia and Television Education Network. He is a regular speaker for the Taxation Institute of Australia and has lectured for Kaplan Professional. His articles have been published in the Weekly Tax Bulletin, Brisbane Lawyer, Proctor and Taxation In Australia. John is a member of the Queensland Branch of the Taxation Institute's Education Committee, and holds Masters degrees in both Law and Taxation.
