The appeals procedure varies by state and sometimes by county or taxing jurisdiction. Often you cannot appeal the value until there is a re-appraisal. Usually you have to file a form with the assessors office. Next an appointment is schedule. You make your appeal and then you wait for an answer. There is often the ability to speak directly to the assessor prior to the hearing and many times you can obtain an adjustment without going through the hearing process. If you get to the hearing, be prepared to make a logical and supported argument for a lessor valuation and bring evidence. Otherwise you are likely going to waste your time
