Jock taxes as I am told require traveling professionals like musicians, lawyers and athletes to pay income taxes in every state where they earn income. Are these applied in all states?

Every state has different laws. There are 41 states and the District of Columbia that have income taxes. Almost all of then tax non-residents who have earned income in their state unless the workers home state has a reciprocal agreement with them. The good part is that you get to take a credit on your home state return for the taxes paid to the other states.
