My question is this: Is the entire trip from my church to the funeral location and then to my residence reimbursable? If so, should I reduce the total miles driven by the amount of miles I would normally drive in my commute home?
I am an ordained minister. I have been asked to perform a funeral out of state, approximately 45 miles from my church location. I will be driving from my church to the site of the funeral. I will then drive home from the site of the funeral.
I am reimbursed by the church for mileage at 55 cents per mile.

Since you are travelling outside the "general metropolitan area" of your tax home, the entire trip from the church to the funeral, then home would be a reimbursable expense.
Hope this helps.
