In May of 2014, the Assembly overwhelmingly approved a bill, AB 1839, sponsored by Assemblymen Mike Gatto (D-Los Angeles) and Raul Bocanegra (D-Pacoima) to expand California's Film Tax Credit Program.

The Senate Governance and Finance Committee previously gave its support of the bill on June 25 of 2014. The bill is currently scheduled to go before Senator De León's Senate Appropriations Committee the week of August 11th to further vet the bill and it is highly anticipated that the California Film Tax Credit Program will be both extended and expanded before the end of the 2014 calendar year.
