More and more taxpayers are setting up accounts for their pets. Trusts are expensive to establish. I would leave my pet a designated amount in my will, and would probably set up the account ahead of time at a bank, in a regular savings account. The pet's name and the guardian's name should be on this account.
If you have an attorney-friend, have him add a codicil to the will if the pet is not in the will yet. .
