Tax Professionals – Looking For A Tax Job Or New Clients? Learn How To Work Smart (Part II)

Kat Jennings - How To Find A Tax Job

You are a tax professional who has come to the realization that things have changed; you woke up one day and the world of tax is different. Everybody is creating efficiencies and shortcuts and you are trying to figure out what solution is best for you.  Remember my words from the previous post… If you remember any words of this blog post, remember you must stand out in order to get noticed and considered for tax jobs and new clients. We are going to discuss ways we make it easier for tax professionals to stand out.  It is important to understand this as many people are following the crowd of sheep oblivious to what is really happening around them online. Allow me to enlighten you to facts important to know.

LinkedIn is a great site. However, LinkedIn charges everyone who does not know you a fee to see more information on you, and many people do not pay the fee which results in loss of opportunity in tax jobs and clients.

For clarification, if there are a 1000 people who want to find and connect with you, LinkedIn makes revenue 1000 X 360 equates to $360,000 from the people willing to pay in order to see your information and even another cost depending on the number of profiles you can message each month. In a previous online statement by LinkedIn to shareholders some years ago, I read that about 15% of people pay for the upgrade on LinkedIn to see full profiles. I do not know what that number is today but the point is this leaves a world of people who never ever have an opportunity to discover you.

Let’s set aside the other fee LinkedIn charges recruiters which runs $9000-$12,000 to search through their database. Many recruiters do not pay but the big company recruiters do. This failure to connect is costing tax professionals new business opportunities every day. Generalist corporate recruiters often fail to understand how a tax professional who does inpatriate work is different from expatriate work. TaxConnections is visited by people who know the difference as it has turned into a loyal referral network to other tax professionals.

On the other hand, TaxConnections charges each tax professional only $299.95 annually and everyone can find you and send a message for free. This results in more people discovering and reaching out to hire you on tax work. For the sheep who likes numbers, here is what you will learn from Amazon Alexa Analytics. TaxConnections benefits are real! Being on both sites is best to cover all bases in attracting new opportunities to you.

Another important way tax professionals work smart is through a 5 minute marketing technique we teach members. We encourage TaxConnections Members to answer tax questions. Anyone who submits a tax question to https://www.taxconnections.com/taxQuestions  remains anonymous; however, any tax professional member who answers a question gets promoted throughout TaxConnections and appears higher on the search engines answering these question. Just think of how a prospective client will type a tax question into the search engines; when our members answer tax questions they are getting discovered by people who need tax help. This is not occurring on the other sites so you should pay attention to where your efforts are best spent promoting your tax expertise. TaxConnections is making certain our tax professional members are gaining attention and credits higher on the search engines. We are doing things differently than other sites since we are about getting you noticed for your tax expertise.

In my next post, I will discuss the importance of blogging for those who want to get ahead through writing content. Stay tuned for my continued series on “Looking For A Tax Job Or New Clients? Learn How To Work Smart”

We introduce you to value added connections to smartly grow revenue in your accounting practice.

Kat Jennings has been retained by organizations worldwide to locate tax professionals with highly specialized tax knowledge and expertise. She has a thorough understanding of the tax business community, with a proven record of stellar performances matching professionals with organizations. Bringing two parties together to work successfully is the art of understanding personalities, cultural fit, expectations by both parties, flexible or inflexible work environments, understanding what drives and motivates each party, and revolves around the personality and ethics of each executive team.

Kat is a widely recognized expert in high level, tax executive search, as well as connecting buyers and sellers of accounting firms. TaxConnections provides and educates small to medium size accounting firms owners and Partners how to prepare and sell their firms so they can build a succession plan for their retirement. With larger firms seeking to acquire smaller accounting practices, there is a real need to help firm owners prepare to be acquired. Most firm owners are unaware they are not ready to sell when they decide to retire. TaxConnections educates firm owners’ what they need to do years in advance of selling an accounting firm practice.
Senior tax executives expect the utmost privacy when being introduced to multinational organizations about a new tax opportunity under consideration. Having said that, companies searching for a new head of tax expecting tax executive candidates to submit their resume through a resume portal, will never see a full slate of outstanding tax executives available due to a candidates’ desire for greater privacy. This is why privacy focused Uber Tax Recruiters consistently outperform in-house recruiters on tax executive searches.

We offer our clients a Performance Retainer Agreement arrangement so their HR department can still recruit and compete with the tax candidates we present on Head of Tax searches. The client pays us a partial fee upfront, and if they find a candidate they deem better than we introduce to them, we forfeit the final fee. Most of the time, they love and prefer our private introductions to tax executive candidates better than what they source through their own resume portals.

When we represent selling/buying small to medium-sized firms, firm owners/partners also demand greater privacy when considering the sale of their practice. TaxConnections provides a safe place to discuss their business needs, elevate their practices’ online reputation, and increase revenue through new streams of business development by outsourcing work and partnering with other firms. Over three decades, we have worked tirelessly to build relationships between firm owners most organizations rarely have access to in the world of tax. There are numerous possibilities you may never have considered previously to bolster the value of your practice and service offerings.
